Abstract: | The purpose of the paper is to investigate how historical communism and socialism have affected the shaping of a society's ethos. That is, how these historical ideologies affect the ethical worldview of the members of the society. The authors apply an exploratory research design and the Morality of Profit-Making (MPM) scale. The respondents of the study were selected from European former Soviet-style economies, economies in transition: Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Serbia, Poland, and Hungary. The results of the study are compared to a similar MPM study conducted earlier in the United States. |
