| Abstract: | Recent major changes in the international structure of the subscriber equipment industry are outlined and factors having caused these changes are explained. The strategies and competitive behavior of the leading telecommunications subscriber equipment firms in the OECD countries have been changed within the context of the changing technological and regulatory environment. The diffusion of new microelectronics technology have resulted in significant adjustment in the pattern of exports,licensing and direct investment. |
