| Abstract: | While direct foreign investment worldwide is substantial today and rapidly growing the determinants of such activity and their importance to the investment decisions are not clearly established. Examined is the relationship between commercially available country political risk ratings obtained by investors worldwide during the period 1972-1984. The findings suggest limited usefulness of commercially available risk indices based on a rather weak association between investment return and political risk during the time period examined. |
