| Abstract: | A great awareness of the phenomenon of entrepreneurship is witnessed, but quite a few questions remain unanswered. The issue of entrepreneurship in general, as well as its evolution are discussed, in order to awaken and inform those who are in charge in the area of teaching and in the business world. The notion of entrepreneurship is defined, followed by presentation of its characteristics and the functions of the entrepreneur. Then the different types of entrepreneurs are discussed. Finally the social determinatives, that is the socio-economic environment - including the role of the social system, the family context, the social origin of the entrepreneur and his personal experiences as entrepreneur, and the scholar system - are examined. |
