Abstract:The recent interest in corporate culture is behind rediscovery of company history by managers. A new mode, corporate culture, is necessary to derive the need of explicit understanding from the company's major historical facts. Communication cannot get along without culture, which must organise the visibility of things and thus rely on history. The perception of the significant facts of the past is a necessary condition for strategic management. Consequently, management can only improve by drawing on the lessons of history. Tighter cooperation between management theorists and historians would therefore be fruitful, if only to avoid time wasted while trying to reinvent common things.
