Abstract:It is not advisable for management scientists to search for a good theoretical framework to guide organizational change either deliberate or planned. One model that has been offered to perform this function is the "unlearning" model. Unlearning is a term recommended for organizations as a process through which one discards knowledge which makes way for new responses and metal maps. It is argued that the model fails to capture the individual and organizational processes necessary to achieve the set objectives. To achieve them, an alternative, the "parenthetic learning" model of organizational learning and change is proposed.
