Abstract:The dynamism of the French distribution system is characterized both on national scale and in international context. Comparisons between the twelve countries of the European Economic Community are made regarding the most important demographic, economic and social indicators. Regulations influencing the distribution are examined. The different existing forms and channels of distribution are characterized. The process of internalization in this field is investigated. Some opportunities and threats for the French distribution opening up in 1993 are mentioned. Suggestions on how the new challenges should be met are provided.
