Abstract:Findings of research initiative evidence that decision analysis represent an example of British reticence to take up a managerial tool which had apparently proved attractive in the USA. This analytical support to decision-making has changed and is in rapid transition. The findings indicate that the application of decision analysis in the United Kingdom lags behind the USA in both the public and the private sector, which is due to different environments. Although the position is unlikely to change in the short run, central government is in a position to exert influence in this respect.
