Abstract:Political risk is shown to be an inescapable reality of international marketing. There are presented different definitions of political risk. Then there are political risk events highlighted that have been noted as relevant. The different approaches used in theoretical frameworks, explaining political risk are discussed and the difficulties reviewed found in political risk assessment techniques. With that background, the role of political risk in international marketing is discussed and several research questions are suggested with the purpose of stimulating further research in this area.
