| Abstract: | A method has been suggested to control efficiently flexible manufacturing systems. This method is based on fuzzy set theory as a formal framework and on knowledge of experts to fill this framework. Even though it cannot be considered as an expert system it is well suited to be extended into such a tool. This contribution presents an approach to control the releasing of parts into flexible manufacturing systems and the scheduling of parts and tools in flexible manufacturing systems. The approach is based primarily on fuzzy linear programming and on appropriate reasoning. By using simulation the superiority of these approaches over known priority rule scheduling is demonstrated. |
