Abstract:Mobile robots are being employed increasingly to realize a logistics-conform processing organization for material flow. The most important material handling operations are identified. A number of technical solutions are dealt with. Particular requirements for mobile robots are listed and analyzed (room for their operation, mobility, fastness , appropriate software, a fine adjustment of sensors and gripping devices to the technical requirements etc). Some characteristics of mobile robots specialized for the operation and linking of machines, stores operations, consignment and paleting are reviewed. The new trends of technical development are briefly summarized.
