Abstract:Current orthodox thinking attributes great importance to personal characteristics, while discounts or even neglects institutional arrangements, because of these latter factors are hard to measure. The main result of the present paper is that it presents a model of wage determination that accounts for the impact of human capital accumulation and institutional arrangements. The results obtained demonstrate that the real wages for dental hygienists are significantly influenced by institutional factors like regulatory environment of the firm.
