Abstract:The reasons are examined why constructive simplicity might be desirable in management interventions. A problem with the implementation literature is that it does not always distinguish clearly between constructive simplicity and transparency of models. Constructively simple models, being easily understood and used, are more likely to be used effectively than relatively complex models. In addition to possible inherent advantages, constructively simple models are of benefit because they are an efficient way of analysing and learning about decision situations. Constructively simple models are less time-consuming and more transparent.
