| Abstract: | In a pair of recent papers it is suggested that it is appropriate to assess the effectiveness of organizations' strategic planning system by means of a multi-attribute framework. The question is whether a set of basic elements exist within the set of attributes. The method used to investigate the problem is to conduct a factor analysis of the matrix of scores of the participant organizations. In addition, the purpose of the analysis is to explore the data set used in this analysis to examine whether, in terms of their planning effectiveness, the organizations in the sample form natural subgroups. Indeed, the results raise interesting questions rather than answering them. |
