Abstract: | Japan is one of the major users of robots and computers. NHK leads in automation. It was the first to introduce a centralized computer control system. TOPICS /Total On-line Program and Information Control/ is run from IBM computer. The company has 4 TV channels; 2 terrestrial and 2 DBS not yet fully operational. To maintain an archive of video tapes, NHK has developed a special handling system called STORES. |
