| Abstract: | Next year Italy is to start a space communications system, called Argo for the forecasting and prevention of natural disasters. It will also monitor rescue operations. The system will operate from a TV channel transponder on Eutelsat I. It will use fixed and mobile ground terminals to transmit voice, telex and video signals. The master station is based at Fucino Space Centre. Argo will be in operation 24 hours a day. |
