Abstract:As a result of Italian Supreme Court decision the control of RAI was taken away from the government and handed over to a parliamentary commission.Since 1979 in the absence of regulations market forces have prevailed and a rapid deregulating process began. Now Italy is the only country in the world where a very strict system of rules exists to regulate public broadcasting, while private commercial TV and radio prosper without any written rules.
