Abstract:A mixed idiographic-nomothetic technique was used to evaluate the personal goals and perceived goal dimensions of 150 employees. Both task and non-task goals are considered supporting the general proposition that personal goals are related to job satisfaction. The results suggest that job satisfaction can be increased by enhancing goal commitment and the perceived probability of goal success, and by giving information on how to reach goals and by making specific deadlines.
