| Abstract: | The paper is a critique of a contribution by R. Bogaschewsky concerning a class of deterministic dynamic single product (material) lot-size models with respect to quantity discounts. Contrary to Bogaschewsky, the cost minimizing schedules are generally characterized by special structural properties. Algorithms to determine optimal schedules are developed. Some planning horizon results are given, and their usefulness in reducing both computational and informational requirements is shown. The results of this paper contradict the results of the Bogaschewsky paper. |
