| Abstract: | Boards of directors are increasingly important in shaping corporate strategy. But boards differ significantly in their involvement in strategic issues.The study of 139 Fortune manufacturing and service corporations indicates that boards dominated by insiders, and whose directors have great expertise in the firm's major industry, and whose internal operations are efficient are more involved in the strategic process. |
