Abstract:To affect the operation, strategic planning should be specific to: what is expected to happen, who will judge efficiency and effectiveness, what are the criteria on which this judgment will be based. A major trap in the strategy process is the lack of a desired future position /DFP/ suitable for strategic planning. DFP projects a clear picture of what the business is expected to look like at a specific time in the future. DFP formulation process can be broken down to a few tasks. It is necessary to establish a need for DFP and to assess the level of agreement on strategic categories and measures. Then it should be decided which of these categories will provide useful guidance. Next is to obtain agreement on the measures necessary to achieve objectives.
