| Abstract: | Many companies must decide how to best upgrade an installed base of vintage computers. Simply passing the old machines down the corporate food chain has its drawbacks. A growing number of suppliers is eager to help plan PC retirement programs. According to a Datamation survey, a growing number of respondents indicate that new PC purchases will be used to replace already-installed computers. Of course, not all users are candidates for elaborate replacement schemes; many will continue to move older systems as they are replaced by new PCs to lower-level employees. |
