Abstract: | This article examines the moderating effect of industry clockspeed on the relationship btw. strategic schemas and flexibility and firm performance. Two key properties of strategic schemas are complexity and focus. Based on a sample of 225 firms from 14 industries, it is shown that the pattern of relationship among the theoretical constructs is different in fast- and slow-clockspeed industries. The results show for example that complexity of strategic schemas promotes strategic flexibility and success in fast clockspeed industries. |
