Abstract:This article discusses Domberg's theory of the contracting organization. An interpretation of the theory for use in an IT outsourcing context is presented, and the validity of the theory is tested using data collected through a survey of 235 senior IT managers in Australia. The results of the study suggests that Domberger's theory is a useful tool for gaining a better understanding of IT outsourcing, and further research on the topic is needed.
