Abstract:Geopolitical event have forced many countries in Southeast Asia to transform from centrally planned to market-oriented economies. The authors review the literature and introduce a model to help to explain the forces and factors that seem to affect the success of Southeast Asia's transition policies. The authors submit that through Southeast Asian gradualism or constrained capitalism continues to produce positive macroeconomic results and consumption opportunities.
