Abstract: | Five constituencies have an interest in the way how foreign companies' managements select USA plant locations: (1) managements of other foreign companies - who consider USA manufacturing operations as their own; (2) economic development professionals - who pursued and assist foreign companies in their plant-location decisions; (3) public policy makers such as legislators and state, county, and city officials - who are interested in attracting new investments; (4) domestic business executives - who watch the arrival of new competition with mixed feelings; (5) academicians - who have developed considerable knowledge, on the theory and practice of foreign direct investment and plant-location decisions. |
