| Abstract: | A publication ranking system (hereafter as: p-r-s.) will be established by the Finnish Ministry of Education and the universities in Finland. The aim of the p-r-s. is to assist in the evaluation of the output of researchers, research groups and organizations. This paper aims at 1. reviewing some of the journal ranking systems used at European research institutions, especially their categorization of financial accounting journals, 2. discussing some important issues needed to be considered when constructing journal lists in different disciplines. Thus, the paper will support the work of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies, the coordinating body of the project in Finland. |
