| Abstract: | The milk market was deregulated on 1 November 1994. The Milk Marketing Board for England and Wales was succeeded by a number of a new first hand purchasers of milk, among them Milk Marque. Liquid milk prices should now be determined by demand, rather then by a joint committee of representatives of dairy farmers and the dairy trade. The retail value of the liquid milk market in 1993 was 3.9 bn pounds, of which 3.5 bn pounds was fresh milk. Almost half the milk sold is low-fat. |
