Abstract:Eastman Kodak Co contaminated its ground property with chemical spills. In 1987 Kodak recognized that the contaminated soil and groundwater were a potential health hazard to workers, and the extent of pollution would become public. Kodak had long been regarded as a model corporate citizen. Its first action was to request a meeting with state officials, followed by the development of a strategy to manage its environmental problem. Kodak would attempt to manage its community relation and formed a new type of Public Relation /PR/ that organized several public meetings with community residents. Kodak announced a plan to reduce and monitor further chemical contamination and to test for hazards. The communities are being resettled.
