Abstract:The market for portable and non-portable consumer audio products in Germany is investigated. 1990 proved to be a particularly dynamic year for sales, with the value of market rising by 9 percent, in current terms, to DEM 5.9 billion. Volume sales rose by 7.6 percent to 22.7 million units with portable goods accounting for 58.8 percent of the market. Sales of CD players have almost tripled since 1986. Unit sales of dual-head cassette decks have increased by 38 percent since 1986. Small stereo products continue to show volume growth, rising by 75 percent during 1986-1990. Sony clearly dominates sales.
