| Abstract: | The authors investigate the growth and internationalization of the ten largest companies for three small open economy (SMOPEC) countries - Denmark, Finland and Norway - over the last decade. These three countries compose a particularly interesting set, since they share many common features: They are affulent, neighboring countries of about the same size; they belong to the same cultural "block"; and their political insitutions and traditions share many characteristics. This allows the authors to explore: 1) similarities and differences in the internationalization of their largest MNEs; and 2) what degree of heterogeneity exists in the behaviors of MNEs from seemingly similar countries. |
