Abstract:The success in information technology (hereafter as IT) acceptance and use depends partly on leadership culture. This paper investigates the role of project champions influencing user adoption of IT. The study combines the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology with charismatic leadership theory. The data for Partial Least Squares analysis was collected from employees of seven organizations that had engaged in a large-scale IT implementation. According to the survey project champion charisma was positively associated with increased performance and effort expectancy, social influence and facilitating conditions.
