Abstract:An interview is presented with A. H. Bloom, the group chairman of the Premier Group, which operates in South Africa through subsidiaries and associate companies. Business in South Africa is compared with that in the USA. International political pressures on South African companies are discussed. The relation of company managers with the government is outlined. The policy of the government is criticized. The effects of apartheid on everyday business are highlighted. Black rule in South Africa is found to be historically inevitable. Possible conditions for a general election are outlined. The question of disinvestment because of political reasons is discussed. Future prospects are summarized.
