Abstract:The importance of a business intelligence system in the future business is explained.A guideline is given to set up a new business intelligence operation. The key users and uses they will be making of the intelligence have to be determined. A survey of the company's current intelligence activities has to be conducted. It is necessary to design an appropriate intelligence system using the information available on corporate needs and the company's existing intelligence activities. Then it has to be set up and tied together the three basic operations that make up an intelligence system - collection, information processing and analyses.
