Abstract: | This article portrays the ideal information communication technology (hereafter as ICT) worker and the competences needed at ICT work environment. The portrayal reveals that ICT workers require a range of emotional and social skills that are frequently linked to femininity. From this basis the paper provides an in-depth discussion on the gendering of emotional and social skills and the changes within different discursive contexts. Although ICT workers constructed the needed skills as gender neutral, a gender-minded way of thinking skills still exists in work environments. |
