Abstract:The report is concerned with the French market for all forms of hair care products on the consumer market. Hair care products form one of the largest sectors of the wider cosmetics and toiletries market, and one of the fastest growing over the 1987-1991 period. The market is fairly stable by volume, with most growth coming from the trend towards more sophisticated and hence higher priced products. Products derived from plant extracts are popular in most sectors of the market at present due to the overall trend towards naturalness. Shampoo is the largest sector, accounting for around 30% by value in 1991. Shampoos, hair colourants, styling products and setting lotions and mousses are likely to see further annual growth.
