Abstract: | This article examines new firms born in business incubation centers (hereafter as: inc-cent.s) focusing on the human capital of entrepreneurs attracted by inc-cent.s, the ventures they develop, and the effectiveness of the services and policies provided by the inc-cent. In the study 114 Basque start-up firms participating in a business assistance program were analyzed. The results indicate that the most influential determinants for new business survival and growth are the factors representing the human capital. Therefore business practitioners should concentrate more on the human capital and firm resources instead of depending on external policies. |
