Abstract: | Lessons learned about technology transfer in a consortium are important for firms trying to effect the timely transfer of technology from the research bench to the marketplace. These lessons provide useful insights on practical ways to speed technology transfer across the functional departments of an organization. Four key variables emerge in the technology transfer process: communication, motivation, distance, and technological equivocality. Management can influence, direct and monitor them. It is concluded that management can accelerate the transfer process by increasing interactive communication and motivation for technology transfer while decreasing physical and cultural distance and technological equivocality. |
