Abstract:The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Service Initiated a pilot test program to explore new ways to enhance creativity and innovation. It was found that even when resources were constrained creative talents could be harnessed to find new ways to accomplish goals. Constrained funding led to more intense efforts to find new ways to be effective. Creativity and innovation figure in a large way into how well the research organization will carry out its mission. The challenge to managers is to maximize creativity and innovation in the work environment. Some individuals may serve as sparks to ignite the flame of innovation and creativity, while others may constantly back up this activity.
