Abstract:It was investigated how job perceptions change as recent graduates adapt to the work environment. The relative importance of various factors was determined at three points early in a professional's career: during the recruiting process, upon starting the first job, and after gaining experience in industry. The results are interpreted in terms of needs related to technical work, career advancement and quality of life.. As it was found, upon starting work, recent graduates have the highest expectations for those factors related to technical features of their work. To successfully retain professionals, a company must adopt strategies which address the needs of a developing employee.
