Abstract:The effects of allowing the parameters of the resource allocation model to change in time according to independent random environment processes are considered. It is supposed that there are a finite number of activities that each require one resource. The objective is to assign arriving resources to available activities so as to maximize total expected return. Random changes in the arrival rate of resources, and random changes in the activity values and deadline rates are considered. Conditions are found under which the structure of the optimal policy and the total optimal expected return are monotone in the environmental state when the environment is subject to random fluctuations.
