Abstract:The paper states that the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 have put a strain on the world economy. How quickly the United States, as the largest economy in the world, can overcome this shock is vitally important for a global economic development. The subjects of this paper are economic aspects of terrorism, of foreign exchange rates and information technology. The article focuses on the performance of the world economy in autumn 2001. The paper considers the effects of fixed exchange rate systems on investments and the demand for information technology in the world economy and provides a great number of graphs, tables and figures on this subject.
