Abstract: | The authors of the paper state that economic activity worldwide has lot much of its dynamism. The downturn is particularly strong in the USA; in Japan, the crisis has happened. In Europe, hopes of a largely unbroken continuation of the strong upswing have been shattered. The paper covers the following subjects: 1) USA: strongly declining dynamic-economic policy on an expansionary course; 2) European Monetary Union: a speedy end to a strong upturn; 3) Marked recovery only in the coming year; 4) Fiscal policy counters recessive trends; 5) Wage trends; 6) Slight easing of monetary policy anticipated.
