Abstract: | By educating young people about science careers, developing programs to allow employees to earn while learning and conducting focused recruiting, NASA-Langley Research Center has become an employer of choice. Workforce 2000, a report issued by the USA Department of Labor in 1987, is reviewed. It identifies new challenges for employers and documents an emerging crisis in the American workplace. It is shown how NASA-Langely Research Center tries to meet all these new challenges using a system of integrated programs and a carefully designed computer information system. Its staffing practices include: pre-recruitment visits, recruitment visits, the application of a recruitment coordinator, information about job offers and career chances. |
