Abstract:The competition for labour is truly hotting up. How do you keep hold of skilled operators in an era of low unemployment and new dot-com careers? Manfred Kets de Vries, professor of HRM at Insead, neatly summed up the current competition for talent when he said:"Today's high performers are like frogs in a wheelbaroow: they can jump out at any time". Keeping the frogs from jumping has become a major challenge for employers.
