Abstract:The authors found that overcoming "cultural barriers" to sharing knowledge has more to do with how to design and implement your knowledge management effort than with changing your culture. It involves balancing the visible snd invisible dimensions of culture; visibly demonstrating the importance of sharing knowledge and building on the invisible core values. The companies they studied felt they are still learning how to do this effectively. Frem they experience they derive five summary lessons about aligning knowledge sharing with the organization culture.
