Abstract:This study researches the effects of social and negative exchanges on work-related attitudes and behaviors. To measure social exchange, HR practices and organizational climate were used. Unfair treatment and non-supportive management practices were considered as negative exchange. The results obtained are in line with social exchange theory. It suggests that positive exchanges enhance employee working attitude and behavior, whereas negative exchanges lead to stress and reduced work motivation. In addition, team working, employee involvement and trust in managers has significant effect on motivation. The study discusses implications of these results.
