Abstract:This study explores how an exemplary business's market orientation (hereafter as: m-orntn.) culture is reflected in managers' mental models (here as: m-mdls). It is evaluated how m-mdls. and perceived behaviours differ across hierarchical levels and functions. Cognitive values and beliefs or the cognitive aspects of m-orntn. culture with behavioural aspects are also compared. Based on results from a rich, multi-method, case study, it is suggested that while managers in the business share core beliefs as to the customer dimension of m-orntn., their beliefs as to competitors, technology and interfunctional coordination dimensions vary across the levels and functions of the business. Differences are found in terms of both the integration btw. the four dimensions of m-orntn. and the depth of knowledge within the dimensions etc.
