| Abstract: | It has been reported that DG IV, the Commission's directorate-general for competition, is to be restructured. Although no final announcement has yet been made, the new structure is expected to comprise seven directorates, as follows: general competition policy; merger task force (EC and ECSC treaties); information, communication and multimedia; services sector; primary industries; capital and consumer goods industries; and state aid. The commission has published a background report on the 1996 intergovernmental conference. |
