| Abstract: | Although the number of small businesses is increasing in Latvia, larger state firms are suffering a decline. To survive they must undergo major restructuring and find new, Western markets. If post-Socialist countries wish to progress towards market economies, they must create private enterprise conditions. In Latvia, a legal framework for entrepreneurial activity and business organization was established when the Law on Entrepreneurial activity was adopted on September 26, 1990. |
